Aims:
- To provide an introductory overview of issues in relation to the management of risk
- To introduce models for effective risk management
- To discuss the needs and views of different stakeholders in relation to risk issues
- To identify the key areas of risk and models of practice for managing risk
- To review relevant areas of legislation and strategies for effective risk management
Audience:
- All providers of mentoring and befriending services, useful for both practitioners and managers
Learning outcomes:
- Development of issues in relation to your own service delivery and broader issues for the sector as a whole
- Introduction to relevant literature and the risk management resource
Trainer biography:
Sophie Wellings has over 15 years experience of working in the voluntary and community sector and specifically with mentoring and befriending. For the last six years she has had strategic responsibility for volunteering with the national young people’s charity Rainer where she oversaw a range of both local and national mentoring and volunteering initiatives and is currently leading on the DCSF funded Looked After Children mentoring pilot.
