Ruth has over 15 years experience of working in the social care, voluntary and community sector, and joined MBF as the co-ordinator for the South East region in January 2008.

For the past six years she has set up and managed a variety of volunteer based support projects for organisations which include Rainer, The Prince's Trust and NACRO throughout the South East. She has also worked as a freelance trainer delivering mentoring programmes to a variety of statutory and voluntary organisations. Her most recent undertaking was the development and delivery of a peer mentoring programme for the education sector in Essex.

As a result of her experiences managing mentoring projects she has developed an interest in the impact mentoring and befriending support can have on young people at risk of social exclusion and for people with 'hidden' disabilities such as dyslexia and autism. She is keen to gather and expand information about these areas and on education-based peer mentoring.
