Derby based mentoring project achieves MBF's Quality Standard
The SOVA Derby City Mentoring Project, which works with young people, has been awarded the Approved Provider Standard
The mentoring project works with young people aged 10-17 who have been referred by the Youth Offending Service. The Project matches them with trained volunteer mentors who meet with them each week for a period of 6 months.
Project Manager Kelly Buswell who worked with Co-ordinator Alan Keeton on the APS application, found the process useful in '...helping us to review our procedures and also to identify what was working well! We are definitely committed to the continuous improvement of our practice.'
SOVA is the leading national volunteer mentoring organisation working in the criminal justice system across England and Wales. For more information about SOVA, check out their website www.sova.org.uk or contact Kelly Buswell at sova@derby.gov.uk
