The MBF recommends that you also consider attending one of our peer mentoring regional networking events, these are taking place approximately 12 weeks after this training course at the same venue. These provide you with the opportunity to meet with other peer mentoring practitioners to share ideas, resources and practice. There will also be an opportunity to discuss your progress in implementing your programme since the training event, including any hurdles/difficulties you may be experiencing.

- To provide you with an introduction to peer mentoring
- To introduce you to the MBF resource pack, 'Peer Mentoring: A Resource Pack for Post-16 practitioners'
- To consider and discuss the processes for implementing a sustainable post-16 peer mentoring project within an education setting
- To discuss accreditation for the programme, the peer mentors and where applicable the co-ordinator
To look at the importance of monitoring and evaluation
Audience
- Practitioners who have little or no experience and are considering setting up a peer mentoring programme with 16-25 year olds
Learning outcomes
- Increased understanding of the benefits of a peer mentoring programme within a post-16 setting
- Increased knowledge of the processes necessary to ensure sustainability
- Awareness of models of good practice from established projects
- Awareness of the importance of the following:
- Planning and preparation
- Resourcing
- Marketing your programme
- Recruitment of participants
- Training the peer mentors
- Preparing mentees
- Evaluation
