Aims:

-  Explain the law as it relates to personal safety and signpost to relevant legal information
-  Demonstrate practical steps that may reduce risks when working on your own premises, on other people's premises (including home visits) and when working out and about
-  Assess your ability and that of your volunteers to do an "on the spot risk assessment" to guide your actions
-  Practice, discuss and demonstrate ways to defuse aggressive behaviour
-  Locate and list internal and external sources of support after an incident
-  List "10 Best Practice Guidelines" to improve your personal safety

-  Programme managers and co-ordinators who are concerned with personal safety and safeguarding

-  Define your own "10 Best Practice Guidelines"
-  Implement  new working policies to reduce the likelihood of facing aggression
-  Understand the nature, causes and good responses to aggressive behaviour and conflict
