Concerned about the personal safety risks that your volunteers and clients are facing?
This course helps you to implement practical steps to improve your policies and procedures around personal safety for your volunteers and clients. It includes managing aggressive behaviour, working out and about, home visits and safer travelling.

Aims:
• Explain the law as it relates to personal safety and signpost to relevant legal information
• Demonstrate practical steps that may reduce risks when working on your own premises, on other people's premises (including home visits) and when working out and about
• Assess your ability and that of your volunteers to do an "on the spot risk assessment" to guide your actions
• Practice, discuss and demonstrate ways to defuse aggressive behaviour
• Locate and list internal and external sources of support after an incident
• List "10 Best Practice Guidelines" to improve your personal safety
Audience:
- Programme managers and co-ordinators who are concerned with personal safety and safeguarding
Learning outcomes:
- Define your own "10 Best Practice Guidelines"
- Implement the new working and policies to reduce the likelihood of facing aggression
- Understand the nature, causes and good responses to aggressive behaviour and conflict
