The knowledge and experience within MBF has developed through managing several high profile national projects and pilots.  Read about past programmes below:

National peer mentoring pilot

The purpose of the national peer mentoring pilot was to evaluate the effectiveness of different peer mentoring models in schools and to assess the impact that they were having on the students involved.

The National Peer Mentoring Pilot produced a Dissemination Manual, which is a guide for schools on the benefits of peer mentoring and includes delivery models around attainment, behaviour, anti bullying and transition.

The independent evaluation carried out by the University of Canterbury is also now available.

Funded by: Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF)
Project timeline: 2006-2008

Mentoring for Looked After Children pilot

This project established over 400 new one-to-one mentoring relationships between looked after children of the relevant age and suitably trained and experienced mentors.

The final evaluation report identified positive outcomes for the mentees, specifically in attainment and well-being, and recognised significant levels of good practice within the pilot that are recommended for future programmes.

The Mentoring for Looked After Children pilot produced a Dissemination Manual in partnership with Rainer (now part of Catch22) and Prince’s Trust.

Funded by: Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF)
Project timeline: March 2007-March 2008
