Pre-16 and Post-16

Pre-16

In a Pre-16 context peer mentoring can be used to support young people between 11-16 years old.  In a school context peer mentoring takes the form of older pupils providing support to younger pupils.  The purpose is:
  • To offer additional encouragement on aspects of school work
  • To help build confidence and self esteem
  • To promote a more positive participation in school life.
Please contact the Pre-16 Co-ordinator, Paul Wainhouse on (0161) 787 8600 or paul.wainhouse@mandbf.org.uk for more information and for advice and guidance on setting up a peer mentoring programme.

Post-16

In a Post-16 context peer mentoring can be used to support young people between 16-25 years old.  This can be in a variety of settings including:
  • FE Colleges
  • Universities
  • The Voluntary and Community Sector
  • Youth Services
  • Working with Young people in Transition
  • Working with Young People in Vulnerable Situations
Please contact the Post-16 Co-ordinator, Charlotte Leather on (0161) 787 8600 or charlotte.leather@mandbf.org.uk for more information and advice and guidance on setting up a peer mentoring programme.
