14-19 Greater Manchester Challenge

The 14-19 Greater Manchester Challenge Peer Mentoring Programme will help raise awareness amongst young people of new learning opportunities, progression routes for 14-19 year olds and to raise aspirations.  The MBF will train and support project co-ordinators to embed sustainable peer mentoring programmes within a 14-19 setting across Greater Manchester.

The intention is to train 10 peer mentors in each of 30 secondary schools to provide support and encouragement, to other students in order to promote further personal development and access to information advice and guidance. This is not intended to replace the service provided by Connexions but rather to compliment delivery by providing an accessible contact ‘in-house’ using peers closer to the age of the student.

14-19 Greater Manchester Challenge is funded from September 2009 – September 2010 by the Department for Education.

If you would like support setting up a mentoring, befriending or peer mentoring project please access MBF’s national training programme and resources and publications.
