Government appoints higher education mentoring champion
Prof Chris Brink from Newcastle University appointed to help find more mentors from within HE to support young people
Professor Chris Brink, Vice Chancellor of Newcastle University, has been appointed as the first higher education mentoring champion to help drive the government's bid to inspire more young people to aim high.
Professor Brink will lead the drive to recruit more mentors from among the higher education community and will encourage young people to fulfil their potential.
Iain Wright, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for 14-19 Reform and Apprenticeships, said:
"I am delighted to appoint Professor Brink as our higher education mentoring champion. He brings with him a breadth of experience and shares our commitment to raising the aspirations and improving the opportunities for young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds."
As part of its support for mentoring in higher education, MBF are running a networking event in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire on Wednesday 24th March which will bring together people involved in mentoring within HE settings.
