Community Voices offer funding to isolated and disadvantaged communities in England

Grants available to help engage and empower

Community Voices is an England-wide programme funded by the Communities and Local Government (CLG) and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (formerly DIUS), and is delivered by Media Trust. It aims to engage and empower communities who feel disadvantaged or isolated with inspiration, confidence, skills, and access to resources and funding to help them find their voice and make it heard, using digital media.

Grants are available to isolated and disadvantaged communities in England, including those without official status as an organisation. You could be an organisation (for example a charity, school or local authority) applying in partnership with, or on behalf of, a community of people. Equally they will welcome applications from individual members of communities, but to ensure the grants go to community-led projects, you need to be able to demonstrate that you have the backing of the community for the project you propose.

Three different amounts of funding will be available for 26 grassroots community projects. There will be 10 grants of £1,500, 10 grants of £7,000 and 6 grants of £14,000. The closing date for applications is 28th February 2010. Communities selected for funding will be confirmed by 31st March 2010 and announced shortly after.
