Research published on young British Muslims' views

Calls for more role model initiatives and activity

A new study of Britain’s Muslim youth has been published by the the Islamic Foundation. The report, Seen and Not Heard – Voices of Young British Muslims, aims to express their voices, views and aspirations.

The findings challenge British society and the Muslim community to do more to connect with young people. There are sections on role models, peer mentoring and intergenerational approaches.

Report recommendations to policymakers include:
  • Better and more informed outreach programmes to connect with young people
  • The need for greater investment in young people to develop their capacity and to create leaders and role models
  • Need for initiatives that bridge intergenerational gaps within the Muslim community
