Families and relationships green paper out for consultation

Find out about MBF’s new reference group

The recently published Green Paper ‘Support for All’ sets out the Government's measures to support families as they bring up their children and to help families cope with times of stress and difficulty.

The paper’s proposals aim to influence factors that can strengthen or weaken family life and focuses mostly on supporting family relationships by enabling families to help themselves. It also considers the position of children and other family members when family relationships have broken down.

The Government is seeking views on how best to shape the next phase of family policy to meet the needs of families today and support strong family relationships.

Specific questions include :
  1. What more can we do to help create a culture in which seeking help for relationship or parenting problems, or other family difficulties, is considered socially acceptable?
  2. Which issues should be prioritised by Government in seeking to strengthen families and support family relationships?
  3. Which services need the most urgent development to make them truly family-friendly?
The consultation runs until 21 April 2010.

MBF will be responding to this consultation and representing your views and are setting up four reference groups over time to help us with this. The first of these groups will focus on projects working with ‘Children, young people and families’if you’re interested in offering your views through this panel find out more here.
