MBF's latest peer mentoring networking event was held in partnership with Shipley College and saw representatives from schools and FE colleges from across Yorkshire get together.

The event provided the opportunity for co-ordinators to network and for young people to air their views and share best practice in mentoring activity. The event contained a mixture of short interactive presentations and showcases from Shipley College and Headlands School who both presented on their mentoring activity.

Heather Savage from Shipley College spoke about setting up mentoring activity within her college and the recent success of their business mentoring programme, with the support of a business mentor involved in the scheme.

Stewart Graham, MBF’s monitoring and evaluation officer, spoke about the importance of outcomes measurement and how achieving the Approved Provider Standard can help projects improve their performance.

Angela Coyne, a project co-ordinator from Headlands School, said:
“The day was really useful. It was great that the peer mentors were given the opportunity to speak at the event, and from the interest generated today we would like to hold a showcasing day at our school.”
