Mentoring and befriending European charter in reach

Tell us your views on the draft European charter

Last Autumn MBF and partners in France, Germany, Belgium and Spain formed the European Mentoring and Befriending group (EMBG).

One of the groups first tasks was to develop a charter to support a shared set of principles whilst accepting mentoring and befriending is different in all countries.  The charter proposes a single broad definition and highlights the core principles that underpin all types of mentoring and befriending.

MBF believe the basic principles underpinning the charter represent a starting point for engagement across Europe and that every mentoring and befriending organisation should be able to relate to them as the basis for safe and effective practise.

The draft charter is out for consultation in each of the partner countries until March 2010 to refine the wording so that is it representative of all known European mentoring and befriending activity.

Your comments and feedback into this consultation would be very much valued by Monday 1st March 2010.
