UK grants programme – older people

Application deadline 11 January 2010

The UK grants programme 2009-2012 is provided and administered by Comic Relief and aims to tackle poverty and social injustice by helping people to make lasting, positive changes in their lives and their communities. As well as older people, the other priority areas funded include:
  • mental health
  • refugee and asylum seeking women
  • sport for change
  • young people aged 11-25
  • local communities
  • young carers

The older people strand of the programme aims to support older people to bring positive change to their communities and is keen to support those developing ideas for action. In particular, the scheme is keen to fund projects that:
  • Bring generations together to learn from each other through activities like creative arts or IT
  • Encourage older people to act as a resource for other older people
  • Support those less physically and mentally able
  • Engage hard to reach groups such as BME elders, frail older people, older people with mental health needs, older carers and older people on low incomes
  • Generate profits to further social or environmental goals

The funding offered is between £15,000 and £40,000 and is available for running and capital costs.

The deadline for applications is 11 January 2010.
