The programme will focus on addressing the agenda for 14-19 under the Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) strand. MBF will introduce peer mentoring as a support package to raise awareness of new learning opportunities for young people, raise their aspirations, and deliver progression routes for 14-19 year olds and beyond.

Peer mentoring can play a crucial role in the 14-19 agenda especially in supporting the delivery of IAG to other young people on the range of progression and learning opportunities that are available and signpost them onto career advisors.

Older students can be trained as mentors and act as a trusted source encouraging other young people to find out information on
appropriate pathways to meet their own individual needs. Peer mentors can provide them with support to address issues that impact on learning and community engagement. They can build confidence, self-esteem and give a
sense of purpose and direction.
