Big Lottery framework to 2015 revealed
New priorities link to mentoring and befriending
Two new documents from BIG (Big Lottery) outline the results of their biggest ever consultation and set out the principles which will underpin BIG’s approach to funding in the UK over the next six years. Some of the key points are as follows:
There will be three UK-wide themes -
- Community Learning and Creating opportunities
- Promoting Community Cohesion
- Promoting Well-being
The Voluntary and Community sector (VCS) will remain BIG’s major partner in delivery and will receive at least 80% of their funding. However, BIG also wants to encourage public and private organisations outside of the sector to be involved in delivery and will encourage partnership working with VCS.
BIG will continue to offer a mix of funding including small grants, open funding and targeted approaches. They will also be clear about the outcomes they want to achieve through funding and focus on areas where they can have most influence.
During 2009/2010 BIG will continue to deliver their open programmes: Reaching Communities and Awards for All with some smaller scale initiatives to be announced. Their new funding portfolio based on the framework will be launched in 2010.
