New Horizons mental health and well-being strategy

Email your views on what the strategy should cover

New Horizons is a new strategy from the Department of Health that will promote good mental health and well-being, whilst improving services for people who have mental health problems. It will build on the National Service Framework for mental health - which comes to an end in 2009.

The New Horizons press release talks about services in place which aren’t normally considered mental health services but which could help promote public mental health and wellbeing and prevent future problems – stating that it is these types of services that New Horizons could help promote.

This is an opportunity to promote befriending and mentoring projects and the valuable contribution they make to individual’s well-being and mental health. Views are invited on what the new strategy should cover with the strategy expected later this year.  Email your comments and suggestions to newhorizons@dh.gsi.gov.uk
