Planning for a pandemic – third sector information
Department of Health issues information to help plan for pandemic flu
The Department of Health has issued information for all third sector organisations to facilitate planning for a potential pandemic. Due to the current situation with cases of Swine Flu confirmed in various countries including the UK they aim to enable those at various levels in the third sector to consider the direct impacts that a pandemic will have on their organisations and ways in which they can protect themselves and others.
Throughout a pandemic, third sector organisations may receive additional requests for help, particularly from health and social care partners, who need to be freed up to provide critical care. You may wish to consider how your services or activities may be utilised, enhanced or expanded to help and what support volunteers and staff may need to take on new, enhanced or expanded roles.
