A better future: strategy for adults with autistic spectrum conditions
Department of Health consultation runs until 15 September
A consultation on a future strategy to support adults with autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) to live full and inclusive lives with access to the right care and support has been launched. The consultation report identifies five priorities: health, social inclusion, choice and control, awareness raising and training, and access to training and employment. The basic thrust of the consultation is that health and local authorities are not geared up to support adults with ASC.
MBF will be responding to this consultation to highlight the difference that support benefits such as befriending and mentoring can bring for adults with an ASC. If you are a project working in this area and have some case studies or evidence to share with us that we can include in our response then please email jeanette.boyd@mandbf.org.uk.
The consultation, which runs until 15 September, asks questions about the priority areas and includes some befriending and mentoring examples in the report.
