Tele-conferencing to support befriending groups
Community Network provides the technology and support
Community Network is an organisation that aims to enable everyone to connect into their community to relieve isolation, overcome challenges and provide the opportunity for full participation and inclusion in civil society. They provide the technology to enable organisations to set up tele-conference groups which can be for a range of purposes.
They support many befriending groups to help combat isolation amongst church goers, carers, ill people and those suffering emotional distress. They provide services to charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises.
Their aim is to provide a facility that matches both technically and in terms of customer service any similar teleconferencing product run on a not-for-profit basis. The revenue raised by conference calls is ploughed directly back into community projects across the UK – specifically those aimed at combating isolation.
Read their case study about the West Midlands ‘Tele-Conference Book Club’ – a club for housebound elderly people, keen readers who can now share their passion
Read their case study about the charity ‘No Panic’ that runs treatment courses via group telephone calls for those who experience panic attacks, phobias, anxiety or OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).
