Projects do not necessarily have to have expertise in the disability field but need to be good quality generic providers willing to expand their experience and with volunteers willing and able to support people from disadvantaged groups and those with disabilities and other impairments.
SE is a recognised process used to develop real work opportunities for people with disabilities, learning difficulties and mental health conditions and is also being considered for working with all disadvantaged groups to support their job opportunities. An important element of this work is delivered through one-to-one engagement both in work (through natural supports and coaches) and out in the community to support social inclusion. This support is offered throughout the SE process including the initial transition phase prior to employment.
There needs to be no commitment at this stage and all projects expressing an interest will be fully involved in the development process. We will consult fully with projects expressing an interest and appropriate guidance materials, training and support will be available to support this new initiative.
How to get involved: Please contact Rosy Dick or Ruth Morris by email, rosy.dick@mandbf.org.uk and ruth.morris@mandbf.org.uk with your expression of interest and someone will be in touch within 7 days to discuss the details. Deadline for responses is 31st October 2008.
What happens next: We will be inviting interested parties to an initial workshop discussion, explore the precise role you could play and how best to proceed with the initiative. This workshop will be held sometime in January 2009 to give everyone plenty of time to confirm their participation.
