Mediabox: new funding to support community cohesion (apply by 22 July)
Grants of up to £30,000 for media projects with young people
Mediabox is a Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) fund that supports disadvantaged young people aged 13-19 to work alongside professionals to learn media skills that enables them to express themselves and to have a voice.
Some recent additional funding is now available to support similar activity that has outcomes linked to community cohesion. Media projects could include: film, radio, photography, games, print and interactive.
Activity should primarily benefit disadvantaged young people aged 13-19 but could also contain elements that reach out and include the wider community (for example, inter-generational work with older members of the community, particularly the parents and grandparents of the young participants). The completed work should be celebrated in the communities that took part.
Applications must be made online via the Mediabox website with two hard copies sent in by post by the deadline of 22 July 2008. The online application process will be open from 7 July 2008.
