£12.5m allocated to prevent extremism
Mentoring is part of government strategy to prevent radicalisation
A strategy for local authorities, schools, community groups and police was launched on 3rd June as the Government aims to work in partnership with communities to challenge and expose the ideology that sanctions and encourages indiscriminate violence.
The Prevent Strategy: a guide for local partners in England shares examples of where local projects have been successful in supporting this agenda and includes a range of mentoring and peer mentoring programmes working to support individuals who may be vulnerable to messages from violent extremists.
The guide offers advice on establishing effective partnership working, planning and implementing a programme of action and monitoring its impact.
