Tackling gangs strategy

Asks if mentoring has been considered as a way of supporting vulnerable young people

This Home Office strategy sets out a range of key approaches to tackling violent street gangs developed in Birmingham, Liverpool, London and Manchester. The guide is aimed at local authorities and other local partners to help them devise a strategy and to understand the range of tools available to deliver it.

A range of different mentoring interventions and programmes are highlighted in the guide including:
  • Moss Side Kickz
  • Liverpool School Mates
  • X-It, Lambeth
  • MMAGS (multi agency team in Manchester)
  • Birmingham MAPPP
  • Greenwich’s Accelerated Extended Learning Schools Programme
