The aim of the handbook is to encourage and help voluntary organisations and projects from across the country to effectively target and work with volunteers from less traditional backgrounds.
The Handbook was launched at a conference on 18 March 2008, part of a dissemination programme, conducted in association with the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation and Volunteering England, aimed at ensuring that learning in this area is spread as widely as possible.
GoldStar is a national initiative set up to enable voluntary organisations and projects to realise the potential of volunteers from disadvantaged and socially excluded backgrounds.
