MBF hosts stand at NCVO national conference
Keynote speaker Ed Miliband, Cabinet Office Minister highlighted the role that mentoring can play in bringing communities together
Ed Miliband, MP in his opening address acknowledged that mentoring and volunteering takes place in communities and should be a central part of tackling poverty. The event aimed at senior third sector representatives was sold out.
Speaking at the NCVO conference in London, Miliband said partnership and respect were the watchwords in the relationship between state and the third sector and that "government needs to do a better job of showing that respect".
The event also saw the launch of NCVO’s Civil Society Almanac, this is the most comprehensive annual overview of civil society organisations and their work.
