Over 60% of attendees sign up to the Approved Provider Standard

9 complimentary workshops took place across England to introduce the Approved Provider Standard (APS) to mentoring and befriending programmes

Group workshop
Over 150 delegates heard about the benefits of the national benchmark for organisations providing one-to-one, volunteer mentoring or befriending.  The Approved Provider Standard is a national award supported by the Cabinet Office and DCSF and aims to provide programmes with a badge of competence and safe practice is mentoring and befriending.

The half day workshops involved a presentation from the MBFs Quality Standards Co-ordinator Salim Nazir as well as lessons learnt from actual APS approved mentoring and befriending practitioners.  Interactive exercises were used to help attendees engage with the application process.

The feedback that was received was positive with over 90% of attendees rating the overall event as good or excellent.  Specific comments included:
- Small enough group to allow useful interaction
- 1/2 a day makes great use of time and it felt about right, pace of sections good
- Enjoyed opportunity to have 'open' and 'engaging' discussion on APS, not talked at for 4 hours
- It was good to meet people from different projects

Future APS workshops will be planned for 2008, for updates please visit our event pages.
