Rainer has been working in a strategic partnership with the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation and the Prince's Trust to oversee a national pilot providing mentors for looked after children aged 10-15 years.

The one year pilot, commissioned by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), has enabled Rainer to provide grants to 28 local providers. The diversity of providers is resulting in a wide range of models of effective practice which the pilot is aiming to disseminate broadly.

A conference is to be held on Tuesday 4 March 2008 in Westminster, London to share learning on effective mentoring for young people, and looked after children specifically.

Keynote speakers: Professor Mike Stein, University of York and DCSF Minister (invited)

Steve Matthews, Deputy Chief Executive, Mentoring and Befriending Foundation will be running a workshop on impact assessment incorporating LAC case studies.

Fees:  an early bird discount is available if you book before 25 January 2008 and prices range from £60 to £185 + VAT.
