This course is designed around the principles of the national benchmark; the Approved Provider Standard in particular preparation and ongoing support of your peer mentors.
Aims
- To provide you with an introduction to training peer mentors
- To introduce you to the MBF resource and training materials that cover the core skills of peer mentoring
- To explore training delivery methods which you can develop to suit your own programme and the needs of your peer mentors
Increased understanding of the key elements of peer mentor training
Audience
- Co-ordinators / trainers of peer mentoring programmes involving young people aged 11-25, and who have little or no experience of delivering training
Learning outcomes
- Increased recognition of the importance of learning styles and adapting delivery to meet the specific needs of the young people you work with
- Increased understanding on how to practice and appraise a range of activities appropriate for your training (pre and post 16)
Trainer biography
MBFs own peer mentor co-ordinators deliver this course. They are experienced trainers and have extensive background in peer mentoring provision.
