This course is designed around the principles of the national benchmark; the Approved Provider Standard in particular overall programme processes and policies.  

Aims

  • To assess the need for your programme as well as the rationale behind it
  • To formulate programme aims and client outcomes
  • To investigate the mentoring and befriending spectrum  
  • To consider resourcing and financial requirements
  • To explore appropriate structures, roles and policies/procedures
  • To introduce basic concepts of risk management and insurance
  • To introduce the monitoring and evaluation process


Audience

  • Individuals who are considering setting up a mentoring or befriending programme with little or no experience


Learning outcomes

  • Increased understanding of your project aims and outcomes, as well as target groups
  • Increased knowledge of the resources and support structures required
  • Basic understanding of monitoring and evaluation techniques

MBF’s own regional co-ordinators deliver this course.  All are experienced trainers and have extensive backgrounds in mentoring and befriending provision.
