Welcome to the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation

The Mentoring and Befriending Foundation aims to ensure that mentoring and befriending are at the centre of current and future national volunteering strategies.

Through the promotion of standards and a range of support structures and services, the Foundation aims to provide a quality experience for the volunteer and a successful outcome for mentees and befriendees.


Ramping up respect

The Respect Athlete Mentoring Programme (RAMP) assigns athlete mentors to deprived 11- to 25-year-olds at risk of committing anti-social behaviour. Each young person is mentored for six months to help boost his or her life chances.  RAMP were awarded 3 more years of funding in April 2008

Peer mentors

Ellesmere Port Specialist School of Performing Arts (EPSSPA) in Cheshire has introduced an innovative way to help pupils who self harm.  Its peer mentoring scheme sees pupils with experience in this area support others who are experiencing similar difficulties.
